Over at PhilanthropyDaily.com, I have a piece commenting on an excellent essay in the Atlantic by AEI economist Michael Strain.
He argues that conservatives are doing a disservice to their own tradition — and to their electoral chances — by ignoring the role that local communities play in American life. There’s more to that life than the Individual and the State. There are also families, neighborhoods, churches, and charities which mediate between the naked individual and the Leviathan nation-state.
