Soros Money Weakened Homeland Security Policies

John Rossomando of the Investigative Project on Terrorism has an excellent article on how America-hating billionaire George Soros has used his money to undermine U.S. national security.

Documents published by DC Leaks show that through his philanthropy, Open Society Foundations (OSF), Soros spent “$40 million between 2008 and 2010 on programs aimed at weakening U.S. counterterrorism policy,” Rossomando writes.

Muslim Advocates’ executive director Farhana Khera coauthored a 2007 memo urging OSF to create the National Security and Human Rights Campaign. The NSHRC was in fact created and it pushed to shutter the terrorist detention center in Guantanamo Bay, end extraordinary rendition programs, and shut down secret prisons, among other things. Muslim Advocates is an offshoot of the National Association of Muslim Lawyers.

OSF budgeted $21 million for NSHRC from 2008 to 2010 and kicked in an extra $1.5 million in 2010, according to documents released by DC Leaks. OSF gave it another $26 million to cover 2011 to 2014. NSHRC took in a matching $20 million donation from Atlantic Philanthropies. OSF made 105 grants totaling $20,052, 784 to 63 organizations under the NSHRC program.

A funders’ roundtable created by OSF in 2008 helped coordinate the grant making
among several left-leaning foundations, ” in order to “dismantle the flawed ‘war on terror’ paradigm on which national security policy is now based.” At least “two
dozen” foundations participated in the roundtable’s strategy sessions as of the end of 2008.
